Storm Bride is the first published novel in the world of Aratasa. It describes a conflict that occurred between the Prasei, a culture of traders and fishermen, and the Yakhat, a semi-nomadic group of raiders and herders. It has three primary characters: Uya, a Praseo woman who is pregnant with her first child at the time of the war, Saotse, an old, foreign woman who can speak to the Powers, and Keshlik, the leader of the Yakhat war bands.
